Satyamev Jayate has been stepping on toes ever since the show aired. The fourth episode on medical malpractice didn’t go down too well with medical community. An umbrella body of 21 medical institutions asked Bollywood star Aamir Khan to apologize for accusing doctors of malpractices in his TV talk show “Satyamev Jayate”. Medscape India said the representation of malpractices supposedly perpetrated by doctors was “rather sad” and Aamir Khan should offer his apologies. ”It is rather sad that doctors should be made the object of such shameless, unilateral scrutiny,” Himanshu Mehta, co-founder and advisor to Medscape India, said.
After highlighting social issues affecting Indian society, Aamir Khan, in the fourth episode of his show, turned the spotlight on healthcare and malpractices in the medical profession. He highlighted unethical practices, corruption and scandalous revelations in medical treatment. ”Aamir Khan is my favourite actor and he should stick to making films,” said another doctor, Sunita Dube, president of Medscape.
“Surprisingly, no doctors’ body has spoken against Aamir yet. We need to stand united against such blatant lies. We are going to write a scathing letter demanding an apology from him,” Dube said. Medscape pointed out that doctors were subjected to assault without any fault and many people didn’t understand the pressures of the profession. ”Where is Aamir Khan when doctors are assaulted? Where is he when we give free treatment to the needy?” asked Kishore Taori, president of the Maharashtra Medical Council that is associated with Medscape.

The episode on medical malpractice seems to have had an impact with five Rajasthan doctors getting booked for granting recognition to nursing colleges without proper facilities. The show has brought to fore issues like child sex abuse and female foeticide, not your usual dinner table chatter and has actually forced various state governments get their act together. The Haryana government has announced that pregnant women will have to submit a photocopy of their identification proof at ultrasound centres as a pre-condition for undergoing the test and there are plans to embed observer chips in ultrasound machines. Aamir Khan also met Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot to discuss the female foeticide situation in the state and convinced him that infanticide cases should be fast-tracked in special court. In MP, 65 MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) licences were suspended because they hadn’t submitted the necessary documents. Recently the child sex abuse bill was also passed in Parliament to protect under 18s from sexual predators.

To Ashish and the likes, I just want to ask you guys how much money did Mahatma Gandhiji, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and 100′s of our own great freedom fighters spend to win the freedom of the country?
All the problems have been existing in this country for ages and please do not pretend to be ignorant since you were all aware of these issues. Dowry, fat wedding, gay abuse, female infanticide, untouchabillity, reservations based on caste and minority name it and we have it in our country.
All we needed was to set up the asses of the so called “elected” politicians on high fire. For that all the citizens of the country have to come out on streets and start a revolution. Do we need a fancy emotional show by a well known film actor to stir up our consciousness…please do not tell that we are all morally dead and need some one from the film fraternity to come up with a show to awaken us.
I just partly agree to the concept behind the show. But I am asking you all guys if we are setting this as a standard for our future generations…??
The entire country unites when India plays cricket against Pakistan. Every one is glued to television. Why not all go out on a peacefull protest once in a month probably on a sunday.
Stop being awaked from your deep slumbers by such shows. Be awake and aware of yourself and your surroundings all the time. Then you will see the country of your dream being realized in your own lifetime.
Let us just take one issue of the countless we have in our country. Corruption embedded in the current ruling party..Congress. A lot of allegations has been levelled against Sonia and the likes of money looting. Now all of us have read about it. Now please tell me that do you need an other episode of Satyameva Jayate to kick your asses up and say “we need to know the truth” or just start a movement by ourselves and see it happening.
It always happens … whenever a sincere person raises voice against the corrupt & worst system… some stupid people oppose it.. according to me Amir should not apologize instead he must take even bold steps to unveal the worst things going on in our system….
why are doctors worried about what aamir khan is making per episode ,why are they not worried about things happening around them,whenever the truth comes out people feel attacked ,female feoticide is practiced in india for generations but none of these smart ,high IQ doctors had time to raise their voices against this issue, ,now when aamir s show throws light on the issue and some doctors loose there licence ,they feel attacked and want apology from aamir. In the above article one of the doctors said that aamir is an actor and stick to acting,just want to let this doctor know that it is because of people like you who remain in a shell whole life and do not choose to make a difference in the society .

So Let me make it very clear abt the money and Sacrifices hez put into making SATYAMEVJAYATE !
1.) Aamir Khan (AKP) spent 32 cr in d making,research n promotions of SMJ.
2.) Aamir ended the contracts with 6 brands worth Rs. 116 cr.
3.) Aamir Paid 23 cr to the brands as a penalty of the breach of contract.
4.) In return he will get 46 cr (3.5 cr per episode)from Star plus,which also includes the pay of AKP team of around 500 members.
5.) He could ve easily earned 3 cr per episode by doing a quiz show
6.) Delayed the 45 cr most awaited film of 2012,Talaash.
7.) He did Satymev jayate becoz he wanted to make it and not for money.
8.) We never said that Satyamev jayate is a perfect show,its an honest effort thats it : Aamir Khan.
The Reason all these things are’nt out in media coz He is not a self praising person!

Amir khan should not apologise for bringing forward the truth. He did not defame doctors who are honest and noble. He only tried to question the intentions of those who are not. And the honest doctors were very much with him. It is the corrupt ones who are hurt. This is a profession which can kill or save a life and there should be zero tolerance in it. Any noble doctor would agree.
Hello all the respected people who gave statements above. Why should Amir be there when doctors are giving free treatment? And speaking about the assault or not is his personal opinion. What he does on the show is bring to light and talk about the social issues happening in India. He is trying to raise a voice and get people to raise theirs against injustice. Do you want that to stop? Right now, right here, I am saying that there are many malpractices in medical profession which needs to stop. Will you ask my opinion on the assault or ask my apology? Or ask me to be present when you give free treatment. I know doctors save lives, but it has become a business now, which is not right. Correcting one’s mistake is not shameful. Infact I’d applaud if anyone came forward and accepted these and offered to correct the system.
Hell no, Amir should never apologize to these Maut ka Saudagar,infact if you’re honest doctor you should thank Amir for bringing forward the fundamental flaws in our health system whereby the Aam Admi suffers most. What does one do if a compulsive liar who unfortunately happens to be a doctor misleads hapless doctors by swallowing their money that registration under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act gives them blanket permission to do surgery for any organ of the human body? Can a hospital which has license for liver only do transplanttion of lower bowel/pancreas/gall bladder/ovaries? Will a doctor undergo heart transplant surgery merely because an organ is available from a cadaver donor? Why are the citizens of India dissatisfied and approaching courts of law/consumer courts for justice? Why do doctors go on strikes? Why did innocent patients in AMRI hospital die? If the medical fraternity does not regulate itself the environment will.
