A four-month infant from Malad tested positive for H1N1 on Friday — the youngest positive swine flu (H1N1) case in Mumbai in the last two months. BMC health officials said that the child was suffering from persistent fever and sore throat.

“The child is admitted to Wadia Children’s Hospital a few days ago. The hospital has started swine flu treatment for the child and sent the samples to Haffkine Institute for examination. The test result was communicated to us yesterday. His doctors have told us that he is stable,” said Dr Mangala Gomare, epidemiologist, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Civic officials are going to test everyone who were in contact with the victim. Last month, a six-year old from Mulund had tested positive for swine flu.
