At least a dozen Unani and Ayurvedic doctors were injured in clashes with the police here after hundreds of medics, including women, tried to stage protest in front of Uttar Pradesh assembly demanding better pay. The doctors were agitating for removal of alleged pay scale discrepancies and for making their jobs permanent.  As they moved towards the Vidhan Sabha building, the police put up barricades and tried to stop them, leading to a clash between them and the doctors.

Many doctors were hurt in the clash and about a dozen with injuries were admitted to nearby facilities, police said. The doctors demanded that a senior official from the government meet them and address their problems. They were chased by baton wielding police when they tried to move towards the Vidhan Sabha.

ayurveda have no support from government, nrhm ayush department is ment to bring ayush to the main stream, but after oppointment of ayush doctors , they are forced to practice allopathy system of medicine, how can one think of ayush in main stream.
the main draw back is, ayush is governed by allopathy doctors ,and allopathy never want ayush doctors to come in main stream for health service ,they want ayush to be their slaves, ….sorry to say ,ayush have no future in this country. dr sampath hospet , karnataka
