Sorry to hear about your hypertension. :( We had a girl on my voallyblel team in college who also struggled with it a lot, and the trainer had to take her heart rate and blood pressure a couple of times each game/practice. Personally, I have been forced to take time off of working out mostly due to injuries. I couldn't do much when I had shoulder surgery, but the worst time was when I broke my back. I couldn't work out or play sports for about 6 months, and it drove me crazy. I think I did a lot of sit ups and arm exercises, since I seemed to be able to do those movements pretty well, even though I wasn't supposed to. Probably wasn't a smart thing to do, but it's hard not to do something physical. For your situation, I think I would recommend that you take up yoga or stretching. A few years back a guy in my apartment complex offered a free stretching class for an hour every week, and I really enjoyed going. It made my body feel good and was so relaxing, and I also felt like I had done something good for my health. I know it's not as physical as you would probably like, but it's something (plus the relaxation/meditation will hopefully also help with the hypertension)! Take care, Krystle!!!
