The mystery disease which has claimed 200 lives in Bihar and had been termed as ‘Acute Encephalitis Syndrome’ is actually just encephalitis said the Bihar government. Lab tests proved that the disease was encephalitis according to Additional Secretary of (Health) R P Ojha. Meanwhile, the toll mounted to 200 with 137 deaths reported from the SKMCH and Kejriwal charitable hospitals in Muzaffurpur, he said. Altogether 47 children died at the PMCH in Patna and 11 at the ANMCH, while five deaths were reported from different hospitals in Vaishali district, Ojha said.
Ten districts have been declared as encephalitis-affected districts and the doctors of these districts have been denied leaves in view of recent events. Earlier the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh promised portable drinking water for people (encephalitis is mainly caused due to unhygienic living conditions and lack of clean drinking water) while the Bihar Government promised monetary compensation for the victims’ families.
Another state which has been affected by encephalitis is Uttar Pradesh.
These biased hycrsties are people who would have CHILDREN die of disease because they do not want to pay so little for general health coverage. America is THE only western country that does not provide minimal health care to its citizens. These are people who would rather buy more diamond rings, than give a little to get a lot. Sometimes the one must sacrifice for the many. And in this case, the many must sacrifice SO LITTLE so that someone may get a lot(as in LIFE).I cannot understand why that is so hard to see. Everyone has the right to life(and thats not an anti-abortion slogan either), and Sarah Palin has the right to be reloaded with some Arsenic. FUUUUCK.
Dear Frns…
Its high time…being always promised of providing basic living needs to common man…all govt have failed to meet the basic requirements….as hv been pointed out by health authorities this particular lethal disease being caused by contaminated water…..doesn’t its states responsibility to facilitate its ppl drink pure water…..where is the big promise of electricity,water….. we will remain sufferers unless we come over the prejudices…..
Nitish Kumar instead of finding fault with Modi, should work in his own state to ensure health of poor and needy by providing proper living conditions such as drinking water, clean toilets, basic necessities and dignity of life.
As these people itself are not alive, what there family will do with that money. In INDIA there is no value of a person’s live at all. Govt should think in that perspective that they are attached to each and every one’s life and doing the things personally for each and every individual of india. These are the incidents which shows we are still a developing country… Dear Leaders, You people are knowledgeble & Experienced. Don’t ruin the country’s future for your personal sake. Build the country as no one did it before. Create employement, Reduce prises, Build infrastructures and VALUE THE LIFE OF A PERSON.
GIVING MONETARY FUNDS TO THE VICTIM IS JUST A SOLUTION TO ESCAPE COMPLAINTS AND VICTIMIZATION TO THE GOVT. NO, THIS IS NO ENOUGH. WHAT ARE THE BASIC NEEDS FOR THE PEOPLE SO SUCH DISEASES DONT SPREAD. EDUCATION AND RURAL HEALTH AND MANUY DEVELOPMENT IS NECESSARY. MONEY WELL SPENT ON THE PEOPLE WILL HELP THE RURAL AND PUBLIC AREAS. EDUCATE , EDUCATE, EDUCATE UR PEOPLE.
YES GEORGE U R RIGHT , BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM IN HEATH SECTOR IS THAT THE GDP OF OUR NATION EXPENT ON HEALTH IS ONLY 1.4 % ,RECENTLY GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCE THAT THEY WILL RAISE IT TO 2.5% IN 12 TH YEAR PLAN (2012-17). AS FAR AS MY VIEWS ARE CONCERN THIS 2,.5% IS ALSO A INSUFFICIENT TO SOLVE THE HEALTH PROBLEM OF ANY DEVELOPING COUNTRY SUCH AS INDIA. THEN WHAT CAN PEOPLE DO IN THIS PRESENT SCENARIO. YOU SAY EDUCATION ,YES THIS IS THE ONLY WAY .
