Abott and Syngene inaugurate its first nutrition research and development centre in Bengaluru

American Pharma company and diversified healthcare major Abott inaugurated its first nutrition research and development centre in collaboration with Biocon’s subsidiary Syngene.  The centre was inaugrated by National Innovation Council Chairman Sam Pitroda. 

Briefing reporters, Abbott Nutrition Vice-President Divisional Global R&D Scientific Affairs H Miller said “The centre will focus on the development of nutrition products for maternal and child nutrition and diabetes care”.

Abbott has selected Sygnene to provide a science-based research and innovation team to work closely with Abbot researchers who’ll be based in the Abott Nutrition R&D centre at Biocon Park in Bengaluru. Among the products being developed for the Indian market are meal complements for diabetics and pre-diabetics.  Abbott Global Nutrition Executive Vice-President John Landgraf said. “The centre will help in addressing the nutritional  requirements in India.”
