It sounds like your inodor cat, having had a taste of the outdoors in your garden is interested in going out some more. After all there are often noises rustlings in the garden at night that could be of interest he has obviously learned that when he wakes you, he gets to go out We have 3 inodor cats they usually only chirrup at birds out of the window so I wonder if the silence in the house at night means he is hearing things outside feels like playing.Why not try getting a coulpe of new toys for him introducing them at bedtime each night, so he gets the idea that when you go to bed, he gets toys to play with..it might divert his mind. I suggest the main thing is to decide whether he is to be an inodor cat or not, stick to it, so that he becomes accustomed to his habitat one way or another this may mean curtailing his garden visits if you decide you do want him to remain a housecat, otherwise he will probably keep asking to be let out considering the garden to be part of his territory.
